The following reports are available:
Preston arts and events strategy consultation

Culture in Preston is set to be given a boost with the city's first events strategy and a modernised arts strategy, and we want your views.

The draft strategies, which will focus on cultural activities in the run-up to the 2012 Preston Guild, are the result of wide consultation with the council's strategic, community and cultural partners. They both concentrate on partnership working to build on the city's existing programme of arts and events and make the most of Preston's potential.

The development of an events strategy for the city follows a review of events in Preston carried out by the council's leisure review board last year and the subsequent appointment of a dedicated events officer. The strategy outlines how the council will bring forward an improved programme of events that will be well marketed and meet the highest health and safety standards.

Looking at the current arts provision in Preston, the new arts strategy shows how the arts can help improve personal, social and community development.

Both strategies, which have been developed by consultants GM Associates Ltd and are not yet finalised, are open for public consultation until Wednesday 10th October.
