Controlled Parking Zone G - Parking Consultation
Controlled Parking Zone G faces a unique parking situation. It is one of the smallest controlled parking zones in Hammersmith & Fulham but has some dense residential streets, numerous local businesses, the Shepherds Bush Markets and a number of other recreational and entertainment venues. Since October 2008, it has also been on the doorstep of Westfield which is the largest inner city shopping centre in Europe.
With a wide range of competing demands and very limited road space, it is vital to residents and local businesses that the parking controls in the area are effective.
A consultation was sent to all residents and businesses of Zone G earlier this year to determine the effect that the opening of the Westfield shopping centre has had on local parking. The Council is now carrying out a further consultation in which we are asking what changes can be made to the parking controls to assist local people in finding a parking space when and where they need it. Please read the delivered leaflet carefully as it explains TWO different options for changing the parking controls in Zone G and outlines the advantages and disadvantages of each option. It also outlines the new SMART Visitor Permit system which will be replacing the current visitor permit system irrespective of which option is adopted.
Please ensure that you complete the enclosed questionnaire by Monday 20th July 2009 and return it to us to make your views count.
In addition, an exhibition will be held in the W12 Shopping Centre which will further explain the two options detailed in this consultation. The exhibition will offer residents and businesses in the area a chance to speak to Council Officers and discuss any concerns or suggestions. Council Officers will be in the W12 Centre at the following times:
Wednesday 1st July 2009 from 4pm – 9pm
Saturday 4th July 2009 from 10am – 4pm
Wednesday 8th July from 5pm – 9pm
