The council is committed to providing a range of services that best meet the needs of older and disabled people who require support at home.

We want to develop services to help residents most in need to maintain their independence and improve their quality of life. We also want to give people more choice and control over the services they receive.

We have developed a plan and would like to know what you think about proposed changes. In particular, we would like your views on the proposal to:

• Deliver housing related support to those older people most in need, regardless of their housing situation.

• Provide services locally in the north, centre and south of the borough.

• Offer more choice by increasing the number of service providers.

• Combine personal home care and housing-related support for older people who qualify for both.

• Introduce new services locally that will help older people meet others.

• Give people more control over the money that pays for their support.

• Work with sheltered housing scheme landlords to develop housing management services to meet the needs of their tenants.
