/ / Q6

Advantages of extending parking controls:

  • The extensions of controls may provide parking priority to permit holders, thereby improving the availability of parking in the evenings and at weekends.

  • It will deter visitors from neighbouring boroughs who use Zones L & M to avoid lengthier controls in bordering Controlled Parking Zones.

Disadvantages of extending parking controls:

  • Your visitors would need to pay to park during these extended parking control periods, unless you use the SMART Visitor Permit, which will be introduced in Zones L & M following this consultation regardless of whether the existing parking controls are altered.

Advantages of reducing the maximum stay period:

  • This would prevent people from parking in the area and using nearby transport links to commute. It also creates a higher turnover in parking spaces, making it easier for you to park your vehicle.

Disadvantages of reducing the maximum stay period:

  • It will affect your visitors unless you use the SMART Visitor Permit, which will be introduced in Zones L & M following this consultation regardless of whether the existing parking controls are altered.

/

Would you like a shorter maximum stay period for pay and display parking on your street?

/

/ /
/ / Q18

/

If you answered 'yes' to a shorter maximum stay period, what would you prefer the maximum stay for pay & display parking in your street to be?

[Optional]

/

/ /
/ / Q19

We could increase the pay and display tariff to £2.40 per hour.

Advantages:

Experience elsewhere in Hammersmith & Fulham shows that when pay & display tariffs are raised fewer visitors come to the area by motor vehicle and more tend to come by other means of transport, thereby increasing the availability of parking spaces. If the pay & display tariff is raised it would still remain £1.50 per hour for those using a SMART Visitor Permit.

Disadvantages:

Your visitors would be required to pay the higher tariff unless you use the SMART Visitor Permit, which only charges visitors £1.50 per hour. The increase in tariff may adversely impact on businesses in the local area.

Would you like a car club scheme?

The Council is looking into possible locations for on-street car club bays. Car clubs are a pay-as-you-drive alternative to owning a car, offering various services to people who require vehicles quickly and for varying lengths of time. The vehicles are clean, modern and reliable and without the ongoing costs of owning a car, you can save money.

Providing car club bays in your street can help to reduce parking pressure in the medium to long term: studies have shown that one car club vehicle can replace between 4 and 8 privately owned cars.
