As you may be aware, one of the proposals in the recent Local Government White Paper is to move towards a single comprehensive strategy for public engagement and consultation.

This is intended in part to reflect the experience obtained by Planning Authorities in developing their Statements of Community Involvement. This survey aims to identify the extent to which Councils are already moving in this direction.

This is a short preliminary survey, intended to identify Authorities who have made significant progress - some of whom may be invited to provide more detailed information in due course. The overall purpose is to identify good role-models whose experience can be leveraged to help us all respond to the challenge of the White Paper's proposal
