Parking Consultation - Controlled Parking Zones B & C
Overview
This consultation is intended to allow residents and businesses of Controlled Parking Zones (CPZs) B and C the opportunity to opt for the same controls that are currently operating in Zone CC.
The Council has received representations from residents of CPZs B and C requesting that their current controls of Monday – Friday, 9am - 6pm, be extended to be the same as the controls that exist in the adjoining Zone CC. This is in order to alleviate the perceived Westfield related parking stress in CPZs B and C.
Following the Western Extension of the Congestion Charge zone in 2007 and the opening of Westfield Shopping Centre in 2008, CPZ CC was introduced immediately adjacent to Shepherd’s Bush Green on its South side. Zone CC has parking controls of Monday - Sunday, 9am to 8pm, with a 2 hour maximum stay period for Pay & Display visitors. Residents' visitors can park free of charge on Sundays by activating the Smart Visitor Permit.
The Council therefore wants to hear from you as to your preferences by Friday 24 February 2012.
A map of the boroughs Controlled Parking Zones (including Zones B, C and CC) along with details of parking controls is provided here:
Advantage of the proposed changes
- Helps to discourage Westfield shoppers from parking in local streets, which means more spaces are available for permit holders and their visitors (who can park for longer than the 2 hours maximum stay with the SMART Visitor Permit).
Disadvantage of the proposed changes
- Residents’ visitors will have to pay to park for longer periods.
What happens next
Following the end of the consultation, the results will be presented to the Elected Members in the Spring of 2012 and a decision will be made on whether to introduce any changes or not based on the results. Residents and businesses will be notified thereafter.
