Citizen Space has been developed as a collaborative project between the UK Government and digital democracy company Delib, and has been designed to help government departments to run their consultation processes more efficiently and effectively.
Citizen Space has been developed as a cloud-based consultation and engagement platform, enabling government departments and the wider digital democracy community to build on the foundations that have been developed, leveraging efficiencies by sharing development costs and benefits.
Co-design has been at the heart of the Citizen Space project, with government departments involved at each stage of Citizen Space's development.
When we were developing the Citizen Space concept, we didn’t so much see it as a piece of software but more as a platform on top of which government departments and the developer community could develop and innovate.
If you’re thinking about creating a Citizen Space for your organisation, we think you should look at it as the first step in a journey in helping turn government into a participative platform, where citizens collaborate with government to improve government and wider society
