Intensive Floating Support Services, Mental Health and HIV/AIDs Consultation

[Closing 27 May 2013]
Bristol City Council commissions a range of floating support services for people with mental health needs and people living with HIV/AIDs. The Supporting People - intensive floating support review sets out the City Council strategic approach to commissioning Supporting People services. The current Supporting People contracts have been in place for a number of years and have been delivered by the same providers. Good practice and procurement regulations suggest that these services should be put to tender.

This review will consider the use of floating support services to:

Maximise vulnerable people’s independence to enable them to live in their own homes

 Provide value-for-money preventive support

Be outcome focused to the service user

Public consultation on the draft commissioning plan for accommodation and support services for younger people who need high levels of support.

[Closing 21 June 2013]
The council is consulting on a draft commissioning plan for specialist accommodation and support services for young people with relatively high support needs.

These young people are mostly aged 16-17, as well as some older teenagers such as care leavers. The services included will complement the range of homelessness prevention services currently commissioned or in the process of being commissioned by the council, including some specifically for young people and young parents.

The services in the plan are for young people whose vulnerability or level of need is such that mainstream homelessness prevention services are unsuitable for them.

[Closing 14 June 2013]
The Localism Act November 2011 allows community groups to apply for the designation of a Neighbourhood Planning Area and to apply to be designated as the Neighbourhood Planning Forum for that area. A designated Neighbourhood Planning Forum will then be able to prepare a Neighbourhood Development Plan or Neighbourhood Development Orders for the area. These documents will help to direct and encourage growth in housing, employment provision and the provision of facilities to support the community.

On 27th March 2013, the council designated a Neighbourhood Planning Area in Knowle West. The Council then gave a 4 week period up until 26th April 2013 for qualifying organisations to apply for formal designation as the Neighbourhood Planning Forum for Knowle West Neighbourhood Planning Area. During this period a Forum application was received from Knowle West Residents Planning Group.
