St George Park Lake – Consultation with Anglers

Overview

Bristol Parks and the Neighbourhood Partnership are currently considering a report detailing possible options to address specific  problems relating to St George Park Lake which we know are caused by a small minority of those who fish the lake.

Why we are consulting

Whilst facing all the common problems of an urban park lake within a densely populated area, St George Park Lake generates above average levels of concern. There have been on-going issues relating to conflict of use between general park users, the lake, island and anglers for a number of years now.The aim of the consultation is to raise awareness of the issues and options currently being discussed and to seek and fairly represent the views of the angling community.

What happens next

Once the targeted consultation with the angling community is complete, the results will be collated and a brief report written.  Further resources and cost analysis of options will be carried out and then the following steps taken::1.    To seek a view of options or a preferred option from the Neighbourhood Partnership.2.    For these views to be considered and a decision made by the Service Director for Environment and Leisure Services.3.    Commit or apply for funding, commit resources and implement preferred options(s).4.    Monitor and review.
