Town and village green application process
Overview
Bristol City Council, acting as commons registration authority, determines applications to register town and village greens in the Bristol area. The criteria for determining such applications are laid down in the Commons Act 2006. The Council is seeking to streamline its process for dealing with and determining these applications while making sure the decision-making process remains fair and objective for both applicants and objectors.
Why we are consulting
We are seeking the views of local people on proposals to make changes to the process for dealing with and determining applications to register town and village greens.
What happens next
Consultation responses will be analysed and summarised. If appropriate, the proposed process for dealing with town and village green applications will be revised in light of consultation responses. The council’s Public Rights of Way and Greens Committee will then be asked to decide whether or not to adopt the revised procedure, taking into account the results of the consultation.
