Residential Services “The Way Forward”

Overview

Bristol City Council has 11 residential homes and a resource centre providing services for older people. A decision was made in 2008 to close all council run elderly persons homes and replace them with a smaller number of residential resource centres and specialist dementia units. This work was paused in 2010 as costs increased following a fall in property valuations and an increase in staffing costs.

Council residential care has been the subject of much discussion and there’s a need to provide clarity for service users and our staff, and to create a clear plan as to the way forward.

Why we are consulting

We are seeking your views to help us decide how we can continue to improve services within the difficult financial environment that now exists. We suggest you read the consultation information pack before you start completing this questionnaire. This contains information that will help you complete the form.

Please answer with your own views rather than with what you thinkolder people in general might want. Your comments will help to decide how any new proposals are implemented.

Give Us Your Views

Four launch meetings are being held on 5th and 7th December.
