Black and ethnic minority voice and influence consultation
Overview
The consultation will take place citywide from October 2011 until January 2012 and will include, focus groups, individual consultation and the attached questionnaire. The council and Voscur would like the process of consultation to be transparent and support and facilitate a BME Voice and Influence (V&I) steering group, who have appointed consultants (SkyersPoorman) to conduct the consultation. The consultants recruited will gather feedback from communities and VCS organisations, they will provide recommendations to the steering group who will subsequently recommend which models and structure(s) will best suit the needs of communities and black led organisations in Bristol.
Why we are consulting
The consultation seeks to address the low numbers of BME communities and groups who are engaged in mainstream decision-making structures and infrastructure support functions, the consultation aims to support a solution to combat this. The views of communities and VCS organisations are integral, to help shape the final model and structure (s) that will be supported by BCC and Voscur.
What happens next
Once the consultation period ends at the end of January 2012, recommendations will be provided by the consultations to BCC and Voscur in February 2012 who will decide on most effective voice and influence models and structures which will provide that suits the needs of Bristol’s black and ethnic minority communities and organisations.
