Cotham Residents’ Parking Scheme proposals

Overview

Have your say on draft proposals to develop a residents’ parking scheme in Cotham. The proposals build on the success of Bristol’s first residents’ parking scheme in Kingsdown, which was implemented in January 2011.

Why we are consulting

A recent survey of Cotham highlighted the difficulties that many residents have experienced when parking near their home.  In response, a preliminary design has been developed to show how a residents’ parking scheme for the area could look.  At this point, no decisions have been made about whether or not to introduce a scheme, but we are keen to hear from residents to ensure that any scheme meets the needs of the local community.

The consultation is focussed on people within the scheme area.  A letter has been sent to households wthin the scheme area - residents are encouraged to respond online (if they have access) to save the council money, time and resources.

What happens next

The response to this consultation will be considered by the Council’s Executive members for Transport and Neighbourhoods in conjunction with your local Ward Councillors.  If the decision is made to proceed further, this feedback will be used to shape a scheme that would be advertised for a statutory consultation period. There would still be the opportunity to influence a scheme at this stage.
