Community Infrastructure Levy Consultation

Overview

The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) is a new system that requires development to contribute towards infrastructure, such as local community facilities, schools and transport improvements, which are needed to support the growth of the city. It will be applied as a charge on each square metre of new building, and will be payable by most development in Bristol.

Why we are consulting

The Council is keen to ensure the widest possible range of local communities, landowners, developers and other stakeholders are able to comment on the CIL Preliminary Draft Charging Schedule. We welcome views on the proposed charges, as these will help to inform the final version of the Charging Schedule.Following this consultation, a further consultation will take place in Spring 2012, before the Charging Schedule is examined by a planning inspector, and then adopted by the Council.
