Chester Park Safer Routes to School

Overview

As part of the Safer Routes to School Scheme we are aiming to make the Zigzags outside Chester Park Infant / Junior School mandatory.  This will mean that they will be enforceable between the hours of 8am to 6pm from Monday to Friday.  The aim will be to make the journey to school for pedestrians and cyclists a safer experience.  We are also proposing double yellow lines at junctions along the length of Ridgeway Road and around the junction with Lodge Causeway.

Why we are consulting

We are consulting with residents and community organisations to make sure that opinions, comments and objections are fully considered and any appropriate changes made prior to implementation.

What happens next

Comments will be considered and if appropriate changes to the scheme implemented.

Results

At the end of the public consultation the Chester Park Scheme had sixteen responses both in favour of the scheme and some with specific concerns about parts of scheme. For the most part the scheme will be going on to the Traffic Regulation Order process as advertised. However, there will be a slight extension to the parking restrictions along Balaclava Road from the junction of Ridgeway Road along 213 Ridgeway Road and Flats 215 to 227 Ridgeway Road. There will also be a parking restriction across the opening to the lane next to 104 Lodge Causeway.
